Please join us in Baltimore for High Zero.September 16th through the 22nd. Four nights of improvised music. One night is great, two nights is intense, 3 nights is a little much, 4 nights is delirious, and you will be impatient with planned “normal” music for the rest of your life.
Also as a bonus, Saturday afternoon, along with some other (amazing sounding) pieces by other folks Matmos will perform “Just Waves”, our chorale with electronics.
ALSO, Monday (16th) night M.C. Schmidt has co-curated an evening of experimental video and film that will illuminate, amuse, possibly educate, possibly hurt your eyes. The concept of the festival and addresses and times and prices (get the full festival pass) and the list of players are here: High Zero Festival of Experimental Improvised Music. This thing changed our lives for the better, we couldn’t recommend it more.

Here is another video, this one to accompany Aetheric Vehicle from “The Marriage of True Minds” set of music. This was a “live” video we tarted up some for late night home viewing.

Here is a video I (M.C. Schmidt) made for our song Luminous Rings, part of the The Marriage of True Minds set of music.
I think the video looks better with “scaling off” (in the upper right hand corner of the Vimeo screen while it’s running and zoomed in) and, of course, without the menus and things.
It makes it smaller, but think of it as a magic postcard I sent you…about Tatiana’s psychic session.
Five years, 50+ Ganzfeld sessions later, we are pleased to announce
that the new Matmos album, “The Marriage of True Minds”, is at hand.
The recorded evidence of our psychic experiments are available in
double vinyl, CD and digital configurations. From Baltimore to Oxford
to Haverford to San Francisco to Whitefish and beyond, we want to
thank everyone who helped to make this album happen.
Matmos is going to go on tour in North America, and in Europe, and then we’re even going down to Brazil.
We’re bringing various permutations of members of Baltimore’s own just intonation boy band Horse Lords for most of these dates, and we’re
playing shows / sharing stages with some rad folks along the way
(Mouse on Mars! People Like Us! Josef van Wissem! Atom Heart! Etc.)
So begins a “journey strange, with clamorous uproare.” Expect to
hear new songs, old songs, and things that aren’t even songs. Expect
to see new video work from M.C. Schmidt. We will have a special
limited edition merchtastic things to share with you too (maybe).
Strap in for good times and telepathic demonstrations.

Please enjoy this set with M.C.S. in it from High Zero 2012 in Baltimore. Please, at the higher resolution, with really nice speakers, like that Maxell ad.
Our pals at L-Inc design created a moving illustration created straight from Ed Schrader’s Psychic Session with Dr. Daniel.
Do watch it at full screen!
New recordings are now available from Thrill Jockey. On the EP (aside from Very Large Green Triangles), a special full length chorale by M.C. Schmidt featuring the voices of Clodagh Simonds (Fovea Hex, Mellow Candle, Mike Oldfield), Angel Deradoorian (Dirty Projectors, etc), Dan Deacon (!!) and M.C.S. and Dr. Daniel.
Also, a remix of a song you can’t even hear yet from the forthcoming “The Marriage of True Minds” entitled “You” by Rrose…dark, flavourful and intense.
The Marriage of True Minds comes out in February. I personally can’t wait, but I guess I don’t have to, ’cause I’m in the band…but you do. In the meantime, do your own psychic experiments with the equipment provided in the boxed set, advertised below. They really are very nice headphones.
